American Urban Radio Network (AURN) Hosts Special Evening with Screening of "Harriet"

American Urban Radio Network (AURN) showed the Focus Films feature film "Harriet" at a very special evening. The 2019 Holiday celebration hosted by Hollywood correspondent Tanya Hart was attended by AURN's advertisers, partners, collaborators, radio personalities and digital correspondents. It was a beautiful evening and we were lucky enough to be there.

"Harriet—a poignant film tracing the life of escaped slave, abolitionist and iconic American freedom fighter, Harriet Tubman—is in keeping with our ongoing desire to encourage the women of AURN with insights and inspirations (overcoming adversity, sacrifice, defiance of gender stereotypes, the power of faith and prayer and the importance of family) that carry through to the worldview and times that we live in even today," said Chesley Maddox-Dorsey, CEO of AURN and Superadio.

Nationally syndicated hosts Nessa (radio host of New York’s legendary Hot 97 and the nationally syndicated “Nessa On Air”), Neicy Tribbett (of the Hezekiah Walker Show with Neicy Tribbett), Tanya Hart (AURN Hollywood Correspondent) and Liz Black (host of “Inspirations with Liz Black”) were part of the amazing evening.

Attendees of this special holiday party included WBLS 107.5 Program Director Skip Dillard, Susan L. Taylor (author, former editor of Essence magazine and founder/CEO of the National CARES Mentoring Movement), James McBride (author, musician and screenwriter) Zinga A. Fraser, PhD, (Africana Studies Department and Women's and Gender Studies Program at Brooklyn College) and Lillie Johnson-Edwards, PhD (Professor Emerita of History and African-American Studies at Drew University).
