Gorgeous Short Shadow Bird (Sonsi) by Savita Singh Is a Must See
By Christine Connallon
Shadow Bird (SONSI) is a spectacularly stunning short film set in a mythical Indian village where the rain always falls. A mysterious time-keeper who doesn’t leave a shadow peaks the interest of a dreamy young girl who has become separated from her shadow bird, Sonsi. Ethereally vivid and engaging, it is no wonder that Shadow Bird is in consideration for nomination in the “Best Short Film” category of the Oscars 2022.
Directed by Savita Singh, this 20 minute Indian gem is on a winning streak, taking home awards like the Best Film winner at the Bengaluru International Short Film Festival 2021 and Best Cinematography winner at the 67th National Film Awards.
Multi-instrumentalist and film composer Tajdar Junaid created a haunting score that captured the ambiance of Singh’s vision perfectly.
Best of luck to Savita Singh and the entire creative team behind Shadow Bird. We’re rooting for you!
